My NBA Update

LeBron-and-Kyrie

Afternoon loyalties!! So I’ve been a little absent this week due to a family emergency I had last weekend, I was in North Carolina up until last night. All is well now, I appreciate all of your condolences. But there has been so much going on in the world of NBA hasn’t there? First of all, I’m so glad King James has returned home to Cleveland! I knew it was happening when he first signed his contract for Miami back in 2010. King James is about his money honey and I’m here for it! Now as for Chris Bosh, I’m disappointed in him. I was really really looking forward to the Harden, Howard, Bosh match up; but you can’t beat $110 milli! Bosh also has the second most expensive house in Florida and four kids to match so yeah, that’s the real reason he stayed! I commend D.Wade for staying, but then again he stay with an injury so who was really checking for him? And as far as Melo goes, I can’t believe him. I just knew he was on his way to Chicago. The Knicks haven’t been cutting it for me at all this year; yeah that’s all I have to say about that.

I’ve also really been into the summer league this week. I’m really liking how my Wizards look and I’ve really got my eye on P.J. Hairston, he’s been my fave for a couple years now. He scored a total of 18pts the other night in the Hornets victory vs the Mavericks. I predict nothing but great things from this upcoming NBA season.

Time Duncan is STILL Dunkin!

Image

Tim Duncan will continue to support his fellow champs the San Antonio Spurs mount a title defense next season. The Spurs announced last Monday, June 23, that the 38-year-old Duncan has exercised his player option for the 2014-15 season. The extraordinary five-time champion will earn $10.3 million next year before becoming an unrestricted free agent when his three-year contract expires in July of 2015. Throughout the Spurs’ run to the 2014 title, Duncan always avoided any contract talk, despite rumors that he might decide to retire by going out on top.

“I don’t have any plans on doing anything,” Duncan said, one day before San Antonio’s closeout Game 5 victory over sorry Miami. “I’m going to figure it out when it comes. I’m not saying I’m retiring. I’m not saying anything. I’m going to figure it out as it goes. I’ve always said if I feel like I’m effective, if I feel like I can contribute, I’ll continue to play. Right now I feel that way, so we’ll see what happens.”

I’ve lowkey always been a fan of the Spurs, and when you think of San Antonio you think of big man Tim Duncan. He would be a sell out if he left while he was on top. He still has some juice so why not keep ballin? He may be 38 but age ain’t nothing but a number. I’m here for it! Do I see a two-peat coming along?!

Playoffs Update

Image

The 2k14 NBA Playoffs have gotten off to a great start! All the crossovers, embarrassing air balls, and childish fouls have made for great TV in my opinion. I’ve been especially satisfied with my home team, the Washington Wizards. Guard Bradley Beal,  with the assistance of his PF #42 Nene Hilario dominated the court on this past Tuesday night, April 22nd. I have to admit, I did not think the Wizards would prevail a second time over the Bulls; boy was I wrong. The object of the game, especially in the second half, was to handle Chicago Bulls defensive player of the year, Joakim Noah. Bradley Beal came in the clutch late in the game and managed to finish the with 26 points. The Wizards lead the first round of series at 2-0 along with the Miami Heat over the Charlotte Bobcats, and the Portland Trailblazers over the Houston Rockets. I ecstatic to see what will happen tonight as the Indiana Pacers take on the Atlanta Hawks. These two teams are tied along with OKC Thunder v. Memphis Grizzles, and Los Angeles Clippers v. Golden State Warriors. These games will take place at 7, 8 and 10:30 p.m. ET between TNT and NBATV.

Eric Bledsoe Brings Light to a Dark Situation

Image

As you can see Phoneix Suns point guard Eric Bledsoe has no problem at snapping back at unruly fans. Bledsoe recently dropped the ball and caused his team the playoffs in my book. Bledsoe, who is averaging 18 points, 5.5 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game this season—had a bit of a tough game on Monday, April 13th against the Memphis Grizzles ending the game at 91-97. Posting just 13 points, five assists and three rebounds as the Suns were eliminated from playoff contention. The Suns rank third in the western conference with a record of 47-34. Better luck next year to “the worst player in the NBA”.

KD the G.O.A.T ?

Kevin-Durant-Endorsements-and-Net-Worth
The constant debate of who’s better than Michael Jordan will forever be a topic of conversation.
But who would’ve thought Kevin Durant would be included in this conversation, and so soon?! Me. That’s who. I mean let’s just “compare” the two greats.
KD is the 1st to average at least 33 points in 3 straight months since MJ’s record of 89-90 points in 4 straight months. AND he passed Jordan’s  record of 40 straight games of 25pts or more! Kid could care less about the comparisons. “I don’t really care about it.” Durant states. “I wish it was over.”

Kevin Durant is humbled on and off the court alike. He’s never been one to stunt too much, but he knows his worth in the same token.

The Beast of the East

NBA: Charlotte Bobcats at Portland Trail Blazers

So as we all know the playoffs are just a few days away and the league is looking more tight than ever now! Teams like the Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, and even the Charlotte Bobcats are looking to keep up their excellent wortk ethic and make a statement in this year’s playoff season. Players like Russell Westbrook, Lance Stephonson, and Al Jefferson have maintained their dominance on the court and continue to improve.

Westbrook has always been the man, but this season, it’s just something about his arrogance in the way he pulls up from deep and effortlessly makes a 15-foot three point shot. He leads his team in steals, assists, and is the second leading scorer of OKC. Indiana Pacers guard, Lance Stephenson has also been a big deal this season. Just this past Sunday, April 13th, in a primetime game against OKC Stephenson reached his fifth triple double. Stephenson is the first Pacers player to achieve that amount and he currently has the most triple double’s in the NBA. Let’s not forget about the Beast of the East himself, Mr. Al Jefferson. He has put on for his team so hard this season. This is the first time in four years the Charlotte Bobcats will make it to the playoffs. Center Al Jefferson was named Conference Player of the Month for March averaging 24.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and shooting at 55.5 percent in the paint. And this month Jefferson has improved even more averaging 26.6 points and 13.7 rebounds for the 42-39 Bobcats.

“My main goal right now is to turn the Bobcats into one of the elite teams in the East,” Jefferson said. “I think that from the beginning, the respect that we now have is great, but I think it’s just the beginning of something special.”

The 2014 NBA Playoffs begin this Saturday, April 19th.

Who will be Number Won?

Image

I don’t know about you all but I’ve been waiting on this game for what seems like forever! Finally the Miami Heat will take on the Indiana Pacers in Indiana tonight at 8pm eastern time. I cannot wait! I believe the pacers will hold it down, but I’m a little concerned due to the lack of usual stunting by Paul George. When’s the last time you’ve seen him highlighted on Sports Center? My point exactly. And not to mention the scary comment made by Pacers center Roy Hibbert after their 77-89 lost to the Bulls on Monday, March 24th. Hibbert states, “We’re just not clicking, and we should be clicking.” I agree wholeheartedly. Even though they are both leading in each their divisions of the eastern conference, the Pacers are currently on a two game losing streak while the Heat are on a one game winning streak. And we all know the power Lebron James has in the fourth quarter. I’m a little stressed just thinking about it. Eight o’clock can’t come fast enough!
