KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Dodgers selected the contract of first baseman Clint Robinson from Triple-A Albuquerque and designated infielder Jamie Romak for assignment before their game Wednesday night against Kansas City.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said the move was made to add another left-handed bat to the lineup. Robinson was hitting .309 with 14 homers and 56 RBIs with the Isotopes.
Romak made his big league debut May 28. He appeared in 15 games with the Dodgers.
“Clint can hit. We liked the way he was swinging the bat in spring training,” Mattingly said. “He was swinging the bat real well in Albuquerque. Again, it gives us another guy on the other side of the plate and we feel like we needed a lefty on the bench.”
